Diagnosis: Esophageal manometry

This measures muscle contractions in the esophagus during swallowing. It can measure the strength of the sphincter.

A very small tube (catheter) is inserted through the nose till the stomach. You will be asked to take liquid swallows as the pressure get recorded.

Time: 10-15 minutes on average

Risks: Minimal
